East Kirkby Event 2008
![]()
After several years negotiation with
the Panton Brothers, the LMA was invited to run a garden party type event at
the East Kirkby airfield; home to Avro Lancaster
MkVII NX611 Just Jane & Spitfire Mk IX MJ627.
This historic airfield is built up as a memorial to Bomber Command and
primarily as a tribute to their eldest brother Christopher Whitton Panton killed
on a bomber raid over Nuremberg on 30th/31st March 1944.
As you can see
from the photographs, a large and diverse range of large models was present
and enthusiastic crowds on both days braved some heavy showers on the Sunday.
