Rufforth 2002
This was the first year Rufforth has joined the official list of
the LMA's main shows. This has always been one of the major model shows in
the UK and heavily supported by LMA members so it is great that we have combined
forces. The show was over the three days of the August bank holiday.
All LMA members will want to thank Dave Tappin, Terry Lee and their teams for
arranging another highly successful and well orginised show. Worthy of special
mention is the transmitter control tent team who did a great job. They, quite
correctly, insisted in seeing all appropriate certification for the over 20Kg
aircraft. The start-up box and flightline were also managed very professionally.
The usual large range of aircraft were present. For example, Ian
Turney-White
had his Tabloid and Nieuport. John Greenfield had his Horton and Wellington.
These models have all been featured on other pages in this site. One the great aircraft new
at an LMA show was the Hadley Page Hanibal. Unfortunately it was only
in attendance on Saturday. It is a great model and we hope to see it at more
events next year.

The USAAF turned up in force and had the largest number of models on display. John Deacon's liberator was subjected overnight to some light hearted modification to its paint scheme and 'converted' into a target aircraft. |
John Townsend's Magister was again on show and performed well over the weekend.
Throughout the weekend the WWI team flew well, in memory of their late
leader, Pete Brotherton. It was very heart warming to see them all standing
behind their models respecting one minutes silence in honour of Pete. All
spectators joined in as well.
